Distressed-effect cowhide leather, crafted for travel
So-called crazy horse leather is a cowhide leather treated with oils and waxes, then worked to achieve a distressed, nuanced appearance. It is the leather used for briefcase bags, trunks, and characterful luggage: under pressure or through friction, the oils migrate, the color lightens locally, and ever-changing highlights appear.
For a luggage tag exposed to conveyor belts, cargo holds, car trunks, and luggage racks, it is an ideal choice. Its rich, waxed nature gives it excellent resistance to scratches, which can often be smoothed away with the palm of your hand, and every journey adds a new shade to its patina. Precautions: a tracker operates with a button battery: keep it, as well as the equipped tag, out of reach of young children. Check your airline's conditions regarding electronic devices placed in checked luggage. The PVC window protects the card from moisture, but the leather is not waterproof: in case of heavy rain, let the tag air-dry naturally, away from a heater, then nourish it with a little odorless balm. Genuine leather may show slight variations in shade from one piece to another.

Which tracker can be placed in the tag?
The round compartment located on the back of the Voyageur BALISE is designed to fit an AirTag tracker. The tracker slides into its compartment and remains secured by the leather during travel. It is not included: the tag is sold separately. Other round trackers of a very similar size may also fit, but we cannot guarantee this; square or card-type trackers are not suitable. Without a tracker, the tag remains fully functional as an identification cardholder, with its window and privacy flap.
Is the laser engraving really free?
Yes. Like all pieces in the Voyageur Collection, the Voyageur BALISE includes a free first laser engraving. You can have initials, a surname, a date, or a short motto engraved on it. On a luggage tag, engraving serves a dual purpose: it personalizes the item and makes your suitcase instantly recognizable on the baggage carousel. For privacy reasons, we recommend avoiding engraving your full address: reserve the card for your contact details, protected by the flap.
How can I add a logo or additional engraving?
The first engraving is free. For additional options, go to the "Engraving options" box just below the add-to-cart button and select the desired option: "Add my logo" (€14.90 per item) to engrave a company, club, or event logo, or "Add an extra text field" (€5.90 per item) for a second text. The option is automatically added to the cart, at a rate of one per ordered item. For a logo, we will ask you for the file by email after the order: preferably use a vector file or a high-definition image that is simple and has high contrast for a sharp result. An ideal solution for corporate gifts.
Are my contact details visible to everyone?
No, and that is one of the Voyageur BALISE's strengths. The identification card is placed behind a PVC window, which is itself covered by a leather privacy flap. As long as the flap is closed, your contact details remain hidden from other travelers. If your luggage is lost, the airline staff or the person who finds it only needs to lift the flap to contact you. As a precaution, it is best to provide a phone number and email address on the card rather than your full postal address.
How do I attach the tag to a piece of luggage?
The tag features an adjustable leather strap closed with a snap fastener. Wrap the strap around the handle of your suitcase, the handle of a travel bag, or the handle of a briefcase, adjust its length, then close the snap. The attachment is secure for travel while remaining easy to remove to change the luggage tag. Before a flight, check that it is securely fastened around the handle so that it does not get caught in the conveyor belts or handling equipment.
Is the window resistant to rain?
The PVC window is advertised as waterproof: it protects the identification card from rain and moisture and keeps the writing legible. The cowhide leather, however, is not waterproof. It can easily withstand a shower, but in case of prolonged exposure to water, let the tag air-dry naturally, away from a heat source, then nourish it with a little odorless balm. Avoid submerging it in water or putting it in the washing machine. With this little care, it will accompany you for many years.
Is the tracker included with the tag?
No. The Voyageur BALISE is sold separately: the AirTag tracker visible in some photos is used to illustrate its use and is not included. You receive the tag in distressed-effect cowhide leather, with its window cardholder, privacy flap, back compartment, and adjustable strap. If you are giving it as a gift, you can include a separately purchased tracker for a complete gift. Simply remember to pair it with the recipient's phone before installing it in the compartment.
