All you need to know
Straight cut and V-cut Stainless steel The KUKLOS ORIGINAL cigar cutter fits in the palm of your hand like a puck: a 60 mm diameter disc that is 20 mm thick, concealing two ways to open a cigar. On the front, a guillotine-style straight cut accommodates cigars up to 25 mm in diameter. On the back, a V-shaped blade carves a wedge-shaped notch into cigars up to 23 mm. Its double-lever system multiplies the force: lift the upper arch to open it, and a simple press of the finger is enough to cut cleanly and effortlessly. Made of stainless steel, it weighs 200 g, a reassuring weight that gives confidence to the gesture. It is available in thirteen colors, from solid shades to marbled finishes, and comes in a gift box, ready to be given as a gift.

Straight cut or V-cut: two schools of thought
The straight cut slices the head of the cigar flat. It offers the widest opening, and therefore the most generous draw, and is suitable for all formats, including the pointed heads of torpedoes and pyramids. When executed well, just above the line where the cap meets the wrapper, it remains the standard.
The V-cut, on the contrary, carves a wedge-shaped notch. The opening is deep but narrow: the cap remains largely intact, the wrapper holds better, and the smoke concentrates toward the center of the tongue. Having both on the same tool allows you to adapt the cut to the cigar of the evening, or simply to the mood of the moment. The double lever of the KUKLOS ORIGINAL finally provides what makes a cut high-quality: a quick, consistent, and decisive movement.
Why you will love it
The KUKLOS spirit
A circle, two cuts
In Greek, kuklos means the circle, the shape that has neither beginning nor end. This is exactly the spirit of this cigar cutter: a perfect disc, without angles, that slips into the hand like a pocket, and which brings together on its two faces the two great ways to open a cigar.
On one side, the straight cut for evenings when you want a generous draw, or for a torpedo with a pointed head. On the other, the V-cut for a robusto that you want to enjoy with a more concentrated flavor. You turn the disc over, and the ritual adapts to the cigar of the moment.
With its marbled finishes or bold shades, the KUKLOS ORIGINAL is also an object you will love to place on the table, next to the lighter and the cigar box.
Choose your cut and slice
The two cuts in detail
| Criterion | Front side: straight cut | Back side: V-cut |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum diameter | 25 mm (ring size of about 63) | 23 mm (ring size of about 58) |
| Opening shape | Flat section | Wedge-shaped notch |
| Draw | Very wide | Generous and concentrated |
| Recommended formats | All, including torpedoes and pyramids | Rounded heads: coronas, robustos, toros |
| Wrapper hold | Good, clean cut with the double lever | Excellent, cap preserved |
Good to know: both sides share the same double-lever mechanism. Simply choose the side according to the cigar: the straight cut accommodates the largest modules up to 25 mm, the V-cut up to 23 mm. For other shapes and other mechanisms, browse our selection of cigar cutters.
Tip: always cut less rather than more. Start with 2 mm, taste the draw raw, then trim slightly if necessary. After use, wipe the blades with a dry cloth to remove tobacco strands.

Frequently asked questions
What cigar diameters can the KUKLOS ORIGINAL cut?
The straight cut on the front side accommodates cigars up to 25 mm in diameter, or a ring size of about 63: it covers practically all formats, from small coronas to large modules. The V-cut on the back side accommodates cigars up to 23 mm, or a ring size of about 58, which corresponds to most robustos and toros. For a very thick cigar, therefore, use the front side.
How does the double-lever system work?
The upper arch is connected to the blades by a double-lever mechanism that multiplies the applied force. Lift the arch to open the orifice, place the cigar, then a simple press of the finger is enough to close the blade with enough power to cut cleanly. This is particularly appreciated on large calibers and for people who have less strength in their hands: the gesture remains light, quick, and consistent.
When to choose the straight cut rather than the V-cut?
The straight cut gives the widest opening and is suitable for all formats, including the pointed heads of torpedoes and pyramids. The V-cut is reserved for rounded heads, such as coronas, robustos, and toros: it preserves the cap better and concentrates the smoke. Many enthusiasts alternate according to the cigar and the mood of the moment, and that is the whole point of having both on the same tool.
What is the KUKLOS ORIGINAL made of?
It is made of stainless steel, a material that resists corrosion and the natural moisture of tobacco. The disc measures 60 mm in diameter and 20 mm thick and weighs 200 g: a weight that gives stability at the time of cutting. The thirteen colors share exactly the same technical characteristics; only the finish of the face changes, solid or marbled.
What is the difference between the solid and marbled colors?
The eight solid colors (black, gray, white, red, orange, blue, apple green, and sea green) play on the understatement or the brilliance of a solid shade. The five marbled finishes (black, red, yellow, green, and blue) feature colored veins that resemble stone or lacquer: each piece thus has a slightly different appearance. The mechanism, the blades, and the dimensions are strictly identical from one color to another.
How to maintain the blades?
After each use, wipe the blades with a dry and soft cloth to remove tobacco strands and any residue. Avoid immersing the cigar cutter in water or putting it in the dishwasher, in order to preserve the lever mechanism. Store it closed, in its box or in an inner pocket, away from shocks. This simple maintenance is enough to keep a clean cut for years.
Is the KUKLOS ORIGINAL delivered ready to gift?
Yes, it comes in a gift box of 110 × 110 × 30 mm, ready to be given as a gift without additional packaging. It is an appreciated idea for a birthday, Father's Day, Christmas, or to thank a wedding witness. Cigars are not provided: for a more complete gift, pair it with a cigar lighter or a humidor from our selection.
