All you need to know

100 minerals Display frame The MUSÉUM mineral collection frame brings together 100 polished mineral and stone specimens in a single display, like a natural history museum display case in your own home. Arranged in neat rows on a black background, the specimens create a true Earth color chart, featuring amethyst, rose quartz, malachite, labradorite, tiger's eye, lapis lazuli, fluorite, obsidian, aventurine, citrine, black tourmaline, and sodalite, among others. Beneath each stone, a small label indicates its name, making them easy to identify at a glance. The labels are written in English. Each stone measures approximately 0.8 to 1.3 cm. The entire display is presented in a walnut-colored wooden frame measuring approximately 33 × 23 × 3 cm, which can be hung on the wall horizontally or vertically or placed on a surface using its easel. A decorative and mineral collection piece that brings together in one go what would take years to gather stone by stone.

Minerals, rocks, and polished stones

A mineral is a natural substance with a defined chemical composition, most often organized into crystals: quartz, fluorite, and tourmaline are examples. A rock, on the other hand, is an assemblage of several minerals, such as jasper, or a natural material without a crystalline structure, such as obsidian, a volcanic glass formed from lava that cools very quickly.

The MUSÉUM specimens are tumbled stones: small fragments tumbled and polished with water and abrasives until they achieve rounded shapes and smooth surfaces that reveal their colors and inclusions. The names provided are the common names used in the mineral trade; some refer to a color variety rather than a distinct mineral species.

The MUSÉUM spirit

A museum at home

There is something fascinating about the old mineralogy galleries: those aligned display cases, those carefully labeled stones, those colors you never imagined finding underground. MUSÉUM brings this idea to the scale of a frame.

Placed on a desk, it catches the eye and sparks conversation. You lean in, look for the tiger's eye, compare rose quartz and strawberry quartz, and discover sunstone and its sparkles. For a child, it is an identification game; for an adult, a reminder of Earth science classes.

And above all, it is a pre-arranged collection, ready to live on a shelf between books and a globe, like a small cabinet of curiosities.

Enjoy your collection

1
Choose its place. Hang it on the wall, horizontally or vertically, or place it on its easel, away from direct sunlight.
2
Light it well. Soft light from the front or side brings out the colors and reflections of the stones.
3
Play a game of identification. Cover the labels with your finger and try to recognize each stone by its color.
4
Dust it. Occasionally wipe the frame with a soft, dry cloth, without household cleaning products.

MUSÉUM or LITHOS?

Criterion MUSÉUM LITHOS SIDÉRAL
Contents 100 polished specimens 4 stones of your choice or a 100 g bag 9 natural stone spheres
Appearance of the stones Polished, 0.8 to 1.3 cm Raw, unpolished Carved into spheres

Names of the stones Label in English beneath each stone Name of each mineral at the time of order One planet per stone
Ideal for Displaying a complete collection Touching, observing, and completing at your own pace Combining astronomy and minerals

MUSÉUM and LITHOS, two approaches: MUSÉUM is a captioned display frame, with one hundred small polished stones permanently fixed, to be viewed like a museum chart. LITHOS raw minerals, on the other hand, are loose stones, larger and unpolished, which you hold in your hand, observe with a magnifying glass, and choose one by one. Many collectors start with one and complete it with the other.

Tip: as the labels are in English, most of the names are easily translated ("Rose Quartz" for rose quartz, "Tiger's Eye" for tiger's eye, "Smoky Quartz" for smoky quartz). It is also a good English exercise for younger people.

Please note: as the stones are natural, their shape, size, and hue vary slightly from one frame to another. The labels are in English, without a French translation on the frame. MUSÉUM is a decorative and collection item: we do not attribute any special properties to the stones. The stones are small: do not remove them from the frame and keep them out of reach of young children.

A gift for the curious

MUSÉUM makes an original gift for a geology enthusiast, a science teacher, a curious teenager, or a lover of beautiful stones. It finds its place at Christmas, for a birthday, Father's Day, or a retirement, when you are looking for an item that lasts and can be admired for a long time.

To go further, gift it with a few LITHOS raw minerals to handle, the BISMA bismuth crystal, or the SIDÉRAL natural stone solar system.

Frequently asked questions

What minerals are found in the frame?

The frame brings together 100 stones and minerals, including amethyst, rose quartz, malachite, labradorite, tiger's eye, lapis lazuli, fluorite, obsidian, aventurine, citrine, black tourmaline, and sodalite, as well as many jaspers, agates, and quartz. Each stone is identified by its small label, making them easy to recognize one by one. The exact composition may vary slightly from one batch to another.

Are the names of the stones indicated in French?

No. Each stone has a small label printed on the background of the frame, but the names are written in English, as is the title of the frame. Most English names are easily understood ("Rose Quartz", "Obsidian", "Citrine"...), and identification quickly becomes a little game, especially for children learning English.

What are the dimensions of the frame and how do you install it?

The walnut-colored wooden frame measures approximately 33 × 23 cm and is 3 cm thick, and weighs approximately 850 g. Each stone measures 0.8 to 1.3 cm: you can observe them closely, like on a collection chart. On the back, two serrated hooks allow you to hang it on the wall horizontally or vertically, and an easel allows you to place it on a desk, shelf, or console. The back closes with swivel latches.

Can you remove the stones from the frame?

The stones are fixed to the background to keep them neatly aligned in front of their label: the frame is designed to be displayed as is, not for handling the specimens. If you wish to touch, weigh, or observe minerals with a magnifying glass, prefer the LITHOS raw minerals, sold loose and larger. The two products complement each other well: one for displaying, the other for exploring.

What is the difference with LITHOS raw minerals?

MUSÉUM is a captioned display frame: one hundred small polished stones, fixed and named, to be viewed like a museum chart. LITHOS offers raw minerals, unpolished, individually in a pack of four stones of your choice or in a 100 g bag: larger stones, to be held in your hand, which retain their edges and natural faces. MUSÉUM shows diversity at a glance; LITHOS allows you to discover each mineral in detail.

Do the stones have any properties?

We present MUSÉUM solely as a decorative, collection, and discovery item. We do not attribute any special properties or virtues to these stones. Their appeal lies in their diversity, their colors, and the geological history of each one: a volcanic rock, a quartz colored by inclusions, a stone with shimmering reflections. It is a beautiful way to awaken curiosity about Earth sciences.

Who to give this mineral frame to?

MUSÉUM appeals to geology enthusiasts and stone lovers, science teachers, curious teenagers, and everyone who loves cabinets of curiosities. It is a gift that works well for Christmas, a birthday, Father's Day, or retirement, and lasts a long time since it can be placed or displayed. For a more complete gift, add a few LITHOS raw minerals to handle.
