Solar YellowTextured Oil21 formats

Opening the shutters on a summer morning to see the sun flood a white wall: that is the sensation evoked by Luminous Symphony. On an ivory background shaded with very pale grey, a cascade of golden yellow descends from the top of the canvas, widening in the center before fragmenting into shards and small patches, like streaming light. The paint is applied in thick layers, then scraped and dry-brushed, so that the white and yellow overlap without ever blending completely. The result is a vibrant texture that changes depending on the time of day. This unique oil painting is handmade to order in an exceptional choice of twenty-one formats, from 40 x 60 to 130 x 200 cm, including several very slender formats such as 50 x 100, 80 x 180, or 100 x 240 cm. For a hallway, entryway, or living room lacking light, it is a true source of brightness to hang on your wall.

One work, twenty-one formats

Luminous Symphony
Luminous Symphony
Ivory and pale grey background, textured golden yellow vertical cascade.

The composition is unique; only the format changes, from €79.90 for 40 x 60 cm to €449.90 for 130 x 200 cm. In addition to classic proportions, there are numerous narrow, tall formats—for example, 50 x 100, 70 x 150, 80 x 180, or 100 x 240 cm—which accentuate the effect of falling light.

The material

Layering white and yellow

The luminous effect of this canvas is based on a simple principle: layering. The artist first sets a light background of ivory and very pale grey, then applies the yellow in vertical streaks. He then returns with white, which he scrapes and dry-brushes over the top, allowing the yellow to show through in only a few places. This back-and-forth movement creates zones of transparency, isolated flashes, and frayed edges that give the impression of light in motion.

Thick, slow-drying oil paint is particularly well-suited for these successive reworkings. It retains the traces of the brush and palette knife, the small reliefs, and the textural accidents. From a distance, one perceives a great golden flow; up close, a multitude of streaks and dots that catch the ambient light.

Yellow, the color of light

In decor, yellow is often used in small touches—a cushion, an armchair, a vase. Luminous Symphony makes it the central element of a wall, but tempered by the ample space left for white. This balance avoids any garish effect and gives an impression of freshness and optimism, ideal for rooms facing north or in transitional spaces.

Our photos present it in contrasted interiors: between two illuminated dark niches, above a low piece of furniture facing a mustard yellow armchair that picks up its color, or at the end of a white hallway with a grey marble floor. Each time, the canvas catches the eye and seems to radiate, even in a very sober decor.

Showcasing it properly

1
Identify a wall that lacks light: the end of a hallway, an entryway, or a wall facing a window.
2
Choose a slender format if the space is narrow and high, or a classic format above a piece of furniture.
3
Have the canvas stretched by a framer and optionally opt for a fine gold or light wood molding.
4
Echo the yellow with one or two objects in the room to create a common thread.

Made for you: the artist paints your Luminous Symphony once the order is placed. Since the scrapings and yellow splashes are done freehand, their distribution will vary slightly from the photo, guaranteeing a unique piece. Please allow for this creation and drying time before shipping.
Decor tip: hung at the end of a hallway, in the line of sight, Luminous Symphony creates an effect of perspective and gives the impression that a window is opening at the back of the space.

Frequently asked questions

Is the yellow golden or more lemon?
It sits between the two: a luminous, warm, and clear golden yellow, more intense at the heart of the cascade and paler on the edges where it mixes with white. It is not metallic paint with gold reflections, but a solar yellow that radiates thanks to the contrast with the ivory background. Depending on your room's light, it can lean toward a more honey tone in the evening under warm lighting, or toward a brighter yellow in full daylight. As screens can slightly alter colors, keep this warm shade in mind.
Why so many formats?
Because a luminous canvas must be able to adapt to very different walls. The classic formats, from 40 x 60 to 130 x 200 cm, are suitable for typical locations—above a sofa, bed, or dresser. The slender formats, such as 50 x 100, 80 x 180, or 100 x 240 cm, are designed for narrow, high walls: a hallway, the space between two windows, a stairwell, or a lobby. In these proportions, the cascade of yellow appears even longer and more spectacular.
Which room should it be hung in?
Luminous Symphony is ideal for rooms lacking natural light: an entryway without a window, a hallway, or a north-facing living room. It is also perfect for an open kitchen, a dining room, or an office, where its color fosters a dynamic atmosphere. In a bedroom, opt for a medium format to maintain a restful environment. In our photos, it appears in a white hallway with a marble floor, between two dark niches, and in a living room where a yellow armchair picks up its hue: three very different ways to bring it to life.
What colors should it be paired with?
Its ivory background makes it compatible with most white, cream, or light grey walls. For an elegant contrast, place it on a dark grey wall or between dark woodwork: the yellow will seem to illuminate. In terms of furniture, light wood, rattan, linen, and brass extend its warmth, while matte black gives it a more graphic look. To create coherence, pick up the yellow with only one or two accessories—a cushion, a vase, or an armchair—without multiplying the touches.
Is the canvas delivered with a gold frame?
No. The fine gold moldings surrounding the canvas in our visuals are for staging purposes. Luminous Symphony is delivered without a frame or stretcher. Once stretched on a frame by a framer, it can be hung as is or surrounded by a molding. If you like the effect in our photos, ask for a fine floater frame in a gold or brass finish: it emphasizes the yellow without weighing it down. A light oak frame offers a more natural alternative, perfect for a Scandinavian interior.
Can I request a special size?
Yes. Despite the twenty-one formats offered, a custom dimension is possible for a very specific location, such as a niche, an attic wall section, or a square format. Let us know the desired size: we will respond regarding feasibility and pricing. The artist will then adapt the cascade of yellow to the new proportions, stretching or widening it to maintain the balance between white and color. As with all our canvases, production occurs after the order.
How do I care for such a light canvas?
The ivory background is sensitive to dirt and smoke. Dust the canvas regularly with a wide, soft, dry brush or a feather duster, without scrubbing. Do not use water, a damp cloth, or household cleaning products. Avoid hanging it above a fireplace, a radiator, or in a kitchen highly exposed to cooking vapors, and protect it from prolonged direct sunlight, which could eventually alter the freshness of the white. With these simple precautions, the canvas will retain all its brilliance.
